Figures from 2018/19 showed that people in the East Neuk waited on average 15 minutes and 27 seconds, when the target states they should be waiting no longer than eight minutes.

The Scottish Ambulance Service responded to 124 immediate life-threatening incidents in the area during 18/19.

North East Fife MSP Willie Rennie is calling on the Health Secretary to take action to resolve this difference in service.

Mr Rennie commented: “We all know that when in an emergency situation, being seen by an ambulance crew swiftly is essential and can make all the difference in outcomes for patients.

“That’s why it’s so concerning to find out that you will wait twice the target time for an ambulance to arrive if you are calling from the East Neuk compared to elsewhere.

People in this part of Fife deserve just as good a level of service as the rest of Scotland and rightly expect to be able to get a fast response from a medical team when they need it.

“I am glad the Health Secretary has written back to me to clarify this disparity and I implore her to intervene so we can close the gap and even out the postcode lottery.”
