Health bosses are set to re-jig parking facilities at Victoria Hospital to accommodate a new orthopaedic centre.

The multi-million £ three-storey development, which is due for completion in March 2022, is the largest capital project NHS Fife hass undertaken since building the new hospital wing in 2012.

It will feature three operating theatres, 34 beds and an out-patient facility.

This week, NHS Fife submitted a planning application to re-configure its car parks to be used by patients and staff.

The centre will be located in Car Park H, adjacent to the A&E drop-off area.

It will remove 140 spaces, so health bosses are looking to replace them with 145 using existing space around the hospital and at Whyteman’s Brae.

They will use space in car parks G and J - both have unused drop-off zones - while staff parking will be created at Whytemans Brae by extending along the boundary of the site to form additional spaces between existing accommodation blocks.

A report stated: “Parking re-provision will be essential for the delivery of the new centre. It is has been developed to minimise impact on the sites and provide the most functional solution in terms of use in each location. “
