Work set to start on new Cupar care home next year

Construction of a new care home in Cupar could start next spring.

Fife Health and Social Care Partnership has announced plans to team up with Fife Council’s Housing Services to build a more comprehensive facility at Dalgairn.

The new proposal is for a 24-bed care home, 12 specific-needs housing flats, and adults and older people day service facilities. A project team has been instructed to investigate the feasibility of a joint venture and anticipates presenting a new business case to the Policy & Coordination Committee later this year.

A proposal will then be submitted for planning approval and, subject to obtaining that approval, construction is expected to begin in spring/summer 2022, with completion expected in early 2024.

Following committee approval, briefing sessions will be held for Northeden House staff, residents and their families to provide more information about the plans for their new home. There will also be information events for the local community.

Councillor Margaret Kennedy said: “After campaigning for a new facility for some time, I am delighted that Cupar will now get a service that’s so much more than a care home. Northeden House is an excellent facility which has been home for many over the years; however, there are national care environment standards, set by the Social Care sector, which need to be adhered to. This project will deliver on that for many years to come. I would encourage local residents to attend the information events.”
