After 139 years as a broadsheet, the newspaper made the bold switch to tabloid format – and it proved a huge hit with readers.
Generations of folk across the Lang Toun had read their paper on the floor, on the table, or, some cases, on top of the cooker.
But, Thursday, November 18, 2010, saw the launch of a new compact version.
It was a year in the planning and featured focus groups, two dummy editions, and a launch night where the very first editions were delivered straight to a gathering of invited guests at the Victoria Hotel.
Since going tabloid, the Press has been named Scottish Weekly Newspaper of the Year four times – 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020 and was shortlisted in 2017.
