Come and dine in Kirkcaldy shop window!

But that’s just what will happen in a few weeks time when groups of specially invited guests will have the chance to take part in three special fundraising dinner parties – in the window of the Marie Curie charity shop in Kirkcaldy High Street!

And the charity’s organisers are hoping the unusual setting will be a recipe for success when they host Dinner Down Memory Lane.

One thing’s for sure – there will be plenty of attention on the menu as the diners will be tucking in in full view of shoppers in the town centre.

Kirkcaldy has been chosen as one of 16 Marie Curie shops around Britain to host a Dinner Down Memory Lane on Saturday, October 1 from 11am to 3pm, and is the only one in Scotland.

Guests at each of three sittings will include local Marie Curie fundraisers as well as people who have played an important role in helping the charity over the years.

And there will be a special theme served up as part of the meal, although, for the time being, just what it will involve is being kept a closely-guarded secret.

The aim of the publicity stunt is to encourage members of the public to host their own dinner or tea parties to raise money for the charity which provides help and support to terminally ill people, allowing them to spend quality time with their loved ones.

Donations for the charity will be taken on the day, with a bucket collection outside the shop, as well as the chance to browse the wide range of products on sale in the shop.

Volunteers will also be giving out special Dinner Down Memory Lane packs which include place markers and ideas for hosting a dinner party of your own to help boost the charity’s funds.

These can take place any time over the next few months and can be as big or small as you want. Some restaurants have also signed up to take part in the fundraiser, which only started up last year.
