Two Fife takeaways in the running to be crowned best in Scotland

Tony’s Kebab Shop in Kirkcaldy and Ramzans Curry House in Kennoway will go up against each other, and eight other takeaways across the country after food fans in Scotland voted online and via post for their favourite.

The BTAs, run in association with Just Eat, are are designed to celebrate the diverse range of cuisines and aim to reward the amazing contribution a nation of takeaway owners make to both their local communities and the UK economy.

The next stage of the awards has now launched, and the public only has until October 24 to cast their votes and crown the winner.

The top five takeaways in Scotland that receive the most votes across the two voting periods will make it to the star-studded national awards ceremony in London on December 5.

In total, 14 awards will be presented. Each of the 13 regional winners will receive £1,000 and free sign up to Just Eat, or their sign-up fee returned if they are already a partner.

But one of the 13 will be extra lucky as they will win the coveted award for Best British Takeaway in Britain and also receive a cheque for £5,000.

The 2015 winner of the first ever Best British Takeaway Award for Scotland was Indian takeaway Cinnamon@Home in Aberdeen.

Since winning the award, the Merkland Road takeaway has seen a huge impact on business, which has seen new staff hired to cope with demand for home deliveries, which can number 200 per week – up 50 per cent since before the award win.
