A feast of food, fun and fund-raising for Maggie's

Families, friends, church congregations and centre users in and around Kirkcaldy have been gathering around assorted tables to raise funds for Maggie's Kitchen Table Day.

Friday was the date set aside for the nationwide event, but local events have been taking place thoughout the week to collect as much cash as possible for our cancer caring centre.

Maggie’s staged an afternoon tea with lots of home baking as well as a bake off competition carried out by celebrity chef and college lecturer Edie Manson, and Alison Harrow, the centre head.

Fife Women in Business, led by Lorraine Brown from Kirkcaldy, held a huge coffee morning at St Marie’s Church.

Another local woman, who wished to remain anonymous, held a birthday party and invited her friends to make a donation to Maggie’s instead of giving her presents.

A group at Kirkcaldy Methodist Church attended by Maggie’s Fife nutritionist Pam Dunn also held an event with home baking and crafts. and Anna Bennett had a board game night with friends.

Angela McAndrew is having a cheese and wine night with friends and they are each going to take a turn to host an event each week with different themes.

Outwith Kirkcaldy there were events at the Dreel Halls in Anstruther and Better World Books in Dunfermline.

Tu Edwards, centre fundraising manager, said: “We have been very impressed with the number and range of Kitchen Table events happening around Fife - and they are set to continue throughout March.

“We don’t have a total but so far they have raised over £1000 which is fantastic.”
