Knives and forks at the ready - the final countdown is on for this weekend’s Crail Food Festival.
The festival kicks off on Friday night in Crail Community Hall with food by the East Neuk Cooks, award-winning Crail Ale, quiz and live music by ‘The Shiverin Sheiks’, who combine a mix of rock ’n’ roll, country, gospel and 1950s pop.
The following two days will be a mouthwatering blend of food and drink, with some firm favourites returning to the festival and a host of new exhibitors including MasterChef The Professionals winner, Jamie Scott.
The festival, now in its sixth year, sees Crail come alive with local food and drink producers showcasing the best of Scotland’s larder, from street food pop-ups and Ask the Chef tasting sessions to a children’s tea party and a producers’ market.
On both days there will be a wonderful collection of food and drink on offer on the Maketgate, where visitors can sit and relax and listen to music while sampling fish tacos, meatball wraps, Penman pies and much more.
On Saturday night, a Festival Dinner will be held at the Crail Kirk Hall where Justin Maule, a classically trained chef will be serving, amongst other things, roast pork chop, shallot crowdie and a marmalade ice-cream, created specially for the festival.
One of the biggest attractions is Sunday Lunch at the Harbour, where street food vendors and local producers come together to host a massive outdoor feast for visitors.
