A fond farewell to Mrs Scott at Denend

Mrs Carolyn Scott (55), who lives in Kirkcaldy took up her first teaching post at Denend Primary thirty four years ago and, astonishingly in an age where people moved jobs all the time, there she stayed - until now.

But it’s not a retirement – over the past four years, Mrs Scott also worked part-time at Fair Isle Primary in Kirkcaldy as a learning support teacher.

And she simply made a decision to leave Denend to work full time at Fair Isle after the holidays.

Staff described her as a “highly valued and committed teacher and member of the school community” who would be sorely missed.

Mrs Palmer, headteacher at Denend Primary School , commented: “Mrs Scott has always put quality learning and teaching at the heart of her practice ensuring she offers her pupils high quality and meaningful learning opportunities.

“She has taught so many pupils over the years – including many parents of our current pupils - who have enjoyed having her as their teacher.”

She continued: “It will seem very strange not to have her here after the summer, however, I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all she has done for Denend. “

Mrs Palmer concluded: “She will be very much missed by staff, parents and pupils but we all wish her well and continued success in her continuing teaching career. “

Mrs Scott taught various stages for the first thirteen years before working in a job share capacity for the last twenty one years
