The Bute Medical Society’s ‘Great Bute-ish Bake-Off’ event, now in its third year, was held in the University’s Medical School and was judged by staff of Jannettas Gelateria.

The winner was the ‘amazing brain’ created by Abigail Gilchrist (18), who is in her first year studying medicine.

Tory Walter, vice president of Bute Medical Society, said: “Our relationship with Janettas is long-standing and to have members of staff personally involved in one of our events was very important to us.

“The main goal of the event is to encourage people to sign up to be organ donors as well as raise money for the charities that the Bute Medical society is supporting.”

The event raised £127 and the funds were donated to Water for Africa, One Million Miles for Ellie and Movember.

Co-owner of Janettas Gelateria Tory Walker said: “We were delighted to have been invited along to judge this contest again, and it was a real challenge to choose a winner from the extremely high calibre of gory creations on offer.

“Despite its rather unnerving and realistic appearance, we’re relieved to say the winning bake was delicious.”
