Europe’s longest street fair will once again be providing six days of family friendly entertainment for the people of Kirkcaldy and beyond from next Wednesday.

Now in its 711th year, the traditional fairground is expected to bring thousands of thrill seekers to Kirkcaldy’s prom and is a highlight for many in the year’s events calendar.

The fairground will begin to arrive in the Lang Toun from the weekend, resulting in the closure of the Esplanade when the market is being set up.

The official opening takes place at 2pm on Wednesday, April 13 and it will be open to the public every day until Monday, April 18.

The annual attraction promises over 30 rides for adults and 100 for the kids, as well as food stalls and trade stands.

Among the rides coming to town this year will be Air Raid, described as a four arm extreme ride, which makes its Links Market debut alongside Thomson’s Waltzer.

Running from 10am to 4pm the event is free to attend and is being run in conjunction with the Fairground Association of Great Britain.
