Kingdom FM’s 2018 Local Hero Awards launched this week.

It’s the 11th year of the event which celebrates the remarkable achievements and efforts of Fifers at the heart of their community.

And, this year, the Fife Free Press Group of news papers is on board too.

We are media partners to the event and will be helping to generate entries across each category, and profiling some of the past winners to encourage more people to put forward their nominations.

The Local Hero Awards were launched in 2007, and, since then, they have honoured a host of groups and individuals who have all gone the extra mile for others – from fundraising to organising community events, and working hard away from the spotlight to make the lives of others that little bit better.

Together they have made Fife a better place.

They say they’re ordinary ... but their acts are truly extraordinary.

They will all be considered for the shortlist ahead of the glittering awards ceremony which takes place on August 31 at Rothes Halls.

Nominating someone is one way of saying thank you to them – and, in many cases, givien them long overdue recognition.

Blair Crofts, Kingdom FM’s managing director, said: “We look forward to seeing who will make this year’s shortlist.

‘‘I’m always hugely impressed by the quality of nominations and I’m proud that Kingdom FM is able to celebrate those people who really put Fife on the map.”
