Cruising towards business success in north east Fife

The St Andrew Business Improvement District is teaming up with CruiseForth to educate local businesses on how to make the most of the growing cruise ship market.

Sailing from Scotland has been expanded by Cruise and Maritime Voyages with departures from Dundee. The companys new ship, Magellan, completed its first voyage of three on Sunday to the Norwegian fjords. The first sailing actually started in Newcastle with the Geordie boardings enjoying a day ashore in Scotland with excursions offered to Scone Palace and Glamis Castle. A free seminar will be held at the Byre Theatre from 6-8pm on May 12, and guests will hear from Peter Willson, CruiseForth project manager.

Now in its sixth year, CruiseForth were the 2015 winners of the Visit Scotland Thistle Awards ‘Warmest Welcome’ category.

Alistair Lang, BID chairman, said: “Throughout 2016, close to 100 cruise ships will visit the Forth and Tay, giving St Andrews businesses access to over 90,000 passengers and crew. It is our intention to provide our levy-paying businesses with valuable insights and information on how they can best take advantage of this growing sector.”
