Tunstall is the latest entertainer to back ‘Share Your Joy’, a campaign which asks the public to share messages of support and encouragement with the hundreds of CHAS families who are currently shielding children with life-limiting conditions all over the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The session, which will be pre-recorded for optimised quality and so that she can chat to fans and CHAS supporters at the same time, will be streamed at 8:00pm on www.facebook.com/supportCHAS and www.facebook.com/KTTunstall.

Those wishing to participate in ‘Share Your Joy’ and donate to the charity can do so at https://charity.chas.org.uk/joy/.

Tunstall said: ““Music is a powerful force of nature in the world, helping all of us feel more connected to each other, which is something we really need right now. I’m delighted to be playing a few tracks for CHAS this Friday. I so appreciate the purpose of this campaign – to help bring light to families who are going through the toughest of times in these already extremely challenging circumstances.”

CHAS has had to dramatically transform the way in which it provides its increasingly important services. It has set up Scotland’s first ever virtual hospice to support children and families who are having to completely self-isolate.

It offers families extensive assistance, whether it relates to clinical guidance, financial advice or bereavement support, by video and phone. CHAS family support teams are also offering an expanding range of interactive activities, art clubs, storytelling and conference calls to children and parents, with more in the pipeline.

Although stringent measures are currently in place to safeguard families, those needing urgent respite, physical and end of life care are welcome at the hospice, where staff work tirelessly to provide children with the palliative assistance they need.

Sinead Thomas, fundraising campaigns manager, said: “We’ve seen a phenomenal outpouring of support from individuals, businesses, schools and community groups throughout these last eight weeks. So many people out there have expressed empathy for the situation that many isolated shielding families, many of whom are known to and supported by CHAS, are currently facing.

“With the launch of our virtual hospice, we are doing everything we can to ensure that these children and families are still able to access CHAS services. But like any charity at this pivotal point in time, this crisis is hitting us hard and we need sustained support more than ever to be able to help the most vulnerable children in Scotland.”
