Fife Council’s transportation and Environmental Services department are celebrating another award-winning year.

The service was short-listed for nine Scottish Transport Awards in 2011 and came out top in two, including the most prestigious accolade of Scottish Transport Local Authority of the Year 2011.

Road accident figures are at an all-time low and since 2007, there’s been a 90 per cent increase in cycling to work, a 5 per cent drop in driving to school and a 25 per cent reduction in reported crime across its transport network.

Head of Service, Dr Bob McLellan, was also presented with the judges’ Outstanding Contribution to Local Transport Award.
