Fife Festival of Music in full swing

The festival, which is being held for the 36th time, was established to support young musicians in the community and encourage them to perform in public.

But it’s not just the youngsters who have been taking to the stage, with community choirs and music making groups also getting involved.

The festival takes place in three phases throughout the year, with the first and biggest being held in January and early February, when there are both competitive and non-competitive events for all ages.

Sessions are held in three venues throughout Fife - the Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy; Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline and Corn Exchange, Cupar, and range from instrumental, through vocal to choral, with solo, duet, ensemble and large group classes available.

The second stage is usually in May, and aims to give younger school age musicians a festival experience through group, non-competitive participation.

The third stage takes the form of a Family Funday of Music and is held in different parts of Fife each year.
