Three of the club’s leading imports will be on stage at the Adam Smith Theatre as part of a special screening of ‘Ice Guardians’ – an acclaimed new documentary on the role of enforcers in the sport.

Kyle Haines, Ric Jackman and Brendan Brooks will take part in a Q&A hosted by Allan Crow, editor of the Fife Free Press, in front of a full house.

It has already sold out special screenings in Cardiff and Nottingham, and Kirkcaldy has landed the Scottish premire thanks to OnFife, which runs the Adam Smith, the FFP and Fife Flyers working together on the back of a flurry of social media activity.

A number of fans tweeted for the film to come to Scotland, and the buzz they created came to the attention of Evan Henderson, programme controller with Fife Cultural Trust, the Press and the club.

Working together they not only secured a premiere, but quickly added a Q&A to turn it into a unique event.

And demand was so high, they quickly added a second night.

The premiere takes place on Wednesday, November 23, and a second screening has been added for Thursday 24th - and the challenge now is to make it two full houses in two nights.

The Flyers’ stars will be on stage for the premiere only, but the Press is putting together a different panel of well known hockey faces for the Thursday screening.

They will talk about the movie, and the changing role of the enforcer – the player whose job it is to stand up for his team, and, when necessary, drop his gloves and fight. It’s a tough role – one of the hardest to perform in sport.

Brett Harvey’s documentary gives the enforcers a rare voice at a time when their very existence is under threat as the sport, and society, changes.

Tickets for the Thursday screening are still available, priced at £10 each, from the Adam Smith Theatre box office.
