The Fife Free Press has once again made the shortlist for the Weekly Newspaper of the Year at the 2017 Scottish Press Awards.
We have won the title for the past two years in a row, and are now hoping for a hat-trick!
A judging panel of 25 leading media figures and former editors, which for the first time in the competition’s history had a majority of female members, whittled down the final selections for the category.
The Press was named weekly newspaper of the year in 2015,and again in 2016.
The shortlist of six includes our sister title, the Falkirk Herald, plus the Inverness Courier, Kilmarnock Standard, Highland News and Ayrshire Post.
The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony in Glasgow’s Radisson BLU Hotel on May 11.
John McLellan, director of the Scottish Newspaper Society, said: “An impressive depth of coverage was maintained in all the shortlisted titles, once again demonstrating their total commitment to, and celebration of, their communities.”
The 38th Scottish Press Awards sees the introduction of a number of new categories including ‘digital team of the year’ and ‘outstanding digital journalist’ to recognise the continued expansion and development of digital news publishing on all platforms.
