First birthday celebrations for Levenmouth group Glen Tots

Glen Tots was set up by local mums Arlene Kirk and Carol Barnes when they were looking for a group to go to with their own children - and realised there wasn’t one.

And thanks to the support of parents from across Levenmouth, the group has continued to flourish, welcoming new families every week for some fun activities on a Friday morning.

The group held a big birthday party at its base in the Balmaise Centre in Leven last week, with dozens of mums, dads, and grandparents bringing their wee ones along for party food, games and a go on the Frozen-themed bouncy castle.

Arlene told the Mail she can’t believe the first year has gone so quickly, but is delighted with the support they receive from all of the parents.

“All of the mums who come are all so supportive of us and willing to help whenever we have events. They even did the food for our party, and the sister of one of the mums, Kerry Boba, made our cake as well, which was really nice.”

Arlene added: “There was a definite need for the group - we’re a bit different in the fact that we offer a place for babies to age four. Many parents often have two kids, but there aren’t any other groups they can take them both too.

“A lot of our parents have said this is the best group they’ve ever been too, which is lovely, and the best feedback we could get is the fact they come back every week.”

Starting off at Letham Glen last May, the group moved to the Balmaise Centre in October, which suits their needs much better, said Arlene.

They’re constantly welcoming new faces, but “there’s always room for more”, with capacity for around 50 children.
