AWARD-winning East Neuk poet and novelist, Professor John Burnside, has talked publicly about the books which have inspired his attitude to living.

Professor Burnside, who lives near Arncroach, was the guest last week on ‘My Life in Five Books’ on BBC Radio Scotland.

He told presenter Stuart Cosgrove about the books which had most influenced his views on the world, during a busy childhood in which his family often moved house.

Among the books he chose were ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Through the Looking Glass’, by Lewis Carroll, ‘The Condition of the Working Class in England’ by Friedrich Engels and ‘Love and Struggle’ by David Gilbert.

Earlier this year, Professor Burnside received the T. S. Eliot Prize, regarded as the highest accolade in British poetry.
