Fife butchers who struck gold in the recent Scottish Craft Butcher Awards evaluation for beef burgers, speciality burgers and speciality sausages have now been shortlisted as finalists for the Diamond Award.

And could lead to them being crowned the Scottish Craft Butchers champion for 2020.

Their products were originally assessed at Forth Valley College, Stirling in March, but the coronavirus lockdown meant the finalists’ judging was put on hold.

The shortlist for the finals has been confirmed and includes a number of Fife businesses.

Pearson Hepburn of Kirkcaldy were nominated for their beefburgers. There were places also for Marzipan’s Meats Ltd, Tayport, and their sweet chilli cheesburger, and Watson of Leven’s spicy beefburger.

The overall champions will be revealed on July 31.

Scott Jarron, president of the Scottish Craft Butchers, said: “These evaluations always reveal really appealing products that craft butchers make and sell.
