The news is a boost to the town centre at a time when many businesses are curtailing their operations - or even closing their doors – as they try to halt the spread of coronavirus.

The market, launched by businesswoman Louise Canny, has given a boost to footfall each week, and built up a growing following.

She pledged it would continue – unless advised not to.

The stalls will be place across the pedestrianised zone on Friday, and could be a boon to shoppers struggling to get supplies as panic buying strips supermarket shelves of some products and food stuffs.

In a post on social media, the market stated: “Rest assured that all the traders attending are fit and well and will have strict hygiene routines set in place.

“We are expecting a big turn out due to the low stock levels in local supermarkets, so please be early to avoid disappointment.”

It added: "In these uncertain times we must not forget kindness and gratitude. We must be here for one another.”
