Fun with a serious message at Kinghorn Lifeboat open day

Good weather made for a fun-filled day which was attended by around 800 people. Supporters were treated to displays, stalls, beach games and attractions at the station’s main fundraising event of the year.

The lifeboat put on two demonstrations for the assembled crowds.

The event was opened by the Royal Party from the town’s children’s gala, followed by displays from the tug Cramond on firefighting capability; Newfoundland rescue dogs and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The local Coastguard rescue team and Army Reserve displayed their equipment, and the Langtoun Model Boat club demonstrated its boats. Sylvia Hadley, the new community safety officer was also there to offer advice.

Alan McIlravie, operations manager, said: “We had another fantastic day. The weather stayed fair, and we enjoyed great support from everyone who came along. The final total is excellent as fundraising events like these help fund the RNLI’s service.”
