Funding boost for Cottage Centre

A Kirkcaldy charity, which provides support services to vulnerable families, has received a Â£1000 boost after being nominated by Fife Council to receive a donation as part of an initiative organised by one of its main contractors.

The Cottage Family Centre will use the funds from window and door contractor CMS Window Systems to bolster its support to families with pre-school children who are vulnerable to factors such as poverty, unemployment and health issues.

As well as running playgroups and mother-and-baby sessions, the centre provides other services for the Kirkcaldy community such as adult education classes, parenting skills workshops, and children’s counselling.

CMS Window Systems is a long standing supporter of The Cottage and recently provided storage, vehicles and extra hands for the charity’s annual Christmas project.

The donation was made following nomination by Fife Council for the firm’s 10-year anniversary charity initiative. Pauline Buchan, services manager at the Cottage, said: “Local families who use the centre rely on our assistance and CMS’s contribution will help us develop initiatives to complement our services.”
