Glenrothes film firm scoops movie accolade

‘The Legend of Black Diamond’ – a dark, low-budget satirical revenge tale and futuristic western – was recently named best feature in the on-line film festival, The Best Film Fest.

Scripted and directed by Graeme Campbell, it was made by Glass Bullet Productions and premiered last May at the Kino Cinema in Leven. It was shot at numerous Fife locations, including the disused quarry at Kinglassie.

Around 2600 films in total were considered in the Best Fest and Glass Bullet was delighted with the success, with many of its rival movies having far larger budgets. The local artists reckoned it was a fine tribute to all the people who got the film made essentially by giving up their weekends.

Laura Binnie, Glass Bullet’s founder/director, who also edited and co-starred in ‘Legend’, is submitting the film to around 40 other festivals at home and overseas – including Sundance, Cannes and Saturn – in the hope its award will get more people talking about it, and watching. Awaiting feedback, Laura, from Glenrothes, said: “It was really nice for our film, with such a tight budget, to win something and be recognised.” Glass Bullet is currently shooting time-hopping horror tale ‘The Prey’ near its Buko Tower base in Glenrothes.
