“I liked all my classes apart from PE.” she said. “I remember we had a young teacher, Miss Herdman, and we were about to sit our O Grades.

“We were all under the impression that we could take time off PE to go to the library to study, but communication had got mixed up and myself and a group of pals ended up being herded out of the library and into the gym where we were given the belt! It was the one time I got into trouble and I was mortified.

“My highlight was singing in the school choir and we did a school concert where we sang a version of ‘Viva Espana’ where we had to do three encores!

“One of the best teachers we had was Miss Forrester who taught French. We all had French names in the class and mine was Cecile. I went to the open day to say goodbye and met some friends who I am now back in touch with.”
