Anstruther's successful annual Harbour Festival is in the process of becoming a charitable trust.

And a meeting is being held by those behind the plans to ensure that there is enough public support to warrant the effort required to administer it.

Notice of the intention has been widely circulated in the area, and it is hoped for a good turnout at the meeting on February 3 at 7.30pm in the meeting room at Anstruther Town Hall (at the library within the Town Hall building, not the usual Burgh Chambers venue).

Gail Sorley, secretary of Anstruther Harbour Festival, said: “The application and the constitution for the new Anstruther Harbour Festival Trust were endorsed at our AGM in November.

“The committee hopes to get assurance that the Trust, as the new charity would be called, has sufficient support from local individuals, businesses and organisations, so we are asking that they send a representative to the meeting, or email: [email protected] confirming their support for our move to charitable status.”
