Hop on the bus and nominate your top Young Scots

The pupils at Waid Academy in Anstruther will have the chance to nominate their local young heroes when the Young Scot Megabus Tour comes to town on Friday.

The tour is hitting the road for the fourth year running, and will spend four weeks travelling around the country, searching for inspiring young people who deserve recognition for their extraordinary work to improve the lives of others in their community.

The Young Scot Awards is Scotland’s biggest celebration of young people and aims to showcase the outstanding contribution of young people aged 11-26 who have made a real difference to the lives of others.

The Megabus will visit towns and cities across Scotland and members of the public will get the opportunity to have their photograph taken with famous faces including David Farrell, Jennifer Reoch and the cast of River City.

People in Anstruther are invited to visit the bus to nominate a local young hero for a chance to be recognised for all their hard work and achievements.

Now in its eleventh year, the Young Scot Awards celebrates young people’s contributions and work across categories such as volunteering, community, diversity, enterprise and education. From hundreds of entries, three finalists will be chosen in each of the 12 categories.

The winners will be announced at the EICC on April 27.

Louise Macdonald, chief executive of Young Scot, said: “We want people across Anstruther to nominate young people who go above and beyond to improve the lives of people in their community.

“We’ve already received hundreds of exceptional stories but we know there are hundreds more out there. The Young Scot Awards are Scotland’s chance to celebrate young people’s inspirational achievements.

“Get nominating so we can give them the praise they deserve!”
