Ian Rankin brings Rebus home to Fife for anniversary event

The Cardenden born author will return to Kirkcaldy to mark three decades of his most famous character.

John Rebus first appeared in the novel Knots & Crosses which was published on March 19, 1987.

And, 30 years to the day the novel first hit the bookshelves, on Sunday, March 19, Ian will be on stage at the Old Kirk, Kirkcaldy to look back on his life in crime writing, and reflect on the global success of his famous fictional detective.

Rebus: A Son Of Fife will also chart their own journeys and how they both ended up in Edinburgh, putting the Scottish capital firmly on the crime writing map.

Rebus is now very much part of the city, so much so, there are walking tours of his haunts during the annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and fans also flock to landmarks such as the Oxford Bar.

Tickets to the event cost just £5 from Waterstone’s in Kirkcaldy.
