Kirkcaldy Beach Highland Games stars shine despite the lack of sun

The sun may not have shone but that didn't put a dampener on Kirkcaldy's Beach Highland Games.

The hardy souls who braved the less-than-perfect conditions were rewarded with an action packed schedule which featured some of the country’s top Highland Game stars.

Bill Harvey, manager of the event’s organisers Kirkcaldy 4 All, said he was “delighted” with how the day went, despite the poor weather.

“From the point of view of organisation it went very well and we’re delighted with that,” he said.

“We had a few more things on this year and we’ve had great feedback from many of the athletes.

“There were more of them taking part in the heavies event this year, which included the world caber toss champion.

“Unfortunately it was very cold and that undoubtedly kept some people away.

“But that’s not going to stop us. Those that did come along had a great time and we’ve already got a few ideas for 2017 so and we’ll be back bigger and better next year.”
