Line-up unveiled for That's Fife Festival 2017

That’s Fife Festival 2017 takes place at theatres including the Adam Smith in Kirkcaldy, Rothes Halls, Carnegie Hall. and the Byre in St Andrews.

The month-long event runs throughout April, and brings some big names to the area.

The line-up includes stand-up comedians Alan Davies, Chris Ramsey and Russell Kane.

It also showcases the very best Scottish talent.

It’s the third year That’s Fife Festival has run, and hopes are high for big audiences across the board.

The event is a collaboration between Fife Cultural Trust and the Gilded Balloon – the team behind three decades of live entertainment at the heart of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

It is also backed by Go Glenrothes and Fife Council’s strategic events programme.

Evan Henderson, from Fife Cultural Trust, said: “It’s really exciting to launch this brilliant festival line up.

“The 2017 festival is a real celebration of the arts and has something for everyone whether you like comedy, theatre, spoken word, magic or a good fun family show. That’s Fife Festival guarantees a great night out.”

The festival is packed with big names, and it kicks-off with a gala show at Rothes Halls featuring Elaine C Smith, Scott Gibson, telly favourite Patrick Monahan, and, Fife’s very own master of illusion, Kevin Quantum.

Norman Laird, Glenrothes area manager, said: “This is exactly the kind of event that should be happening in Glenrothes.

“I’m delighted to see that the opening gala event is being held in Glenrothes.

“I’m really happy to see Go Glenrothes working in partnership with Glided Balloon.

“This is the first of a wide range of events which will encourage locals and visitors to the area.”

The Scottish contingent at That’s Fife includes Fred Macaulay, Mark Nelson, and Chris Forbes from hit TV show Scot Squad, and Scott Agnew, who brings his Fringe show to the Kingdom.

There is drama too with Horse McDonald bringing her one-woman show, Careful to the Adam Smith. It was a criticial hit at the Fringe, and Fife audiences will also get a Q&A with the star as well as some music.

Liz Lochhead, Scotland’s Makar, performs a mix of poems and monologues, and Grant Stott looks back on his career as a DJ in Tales From Behind The Mic.

Gayle Telfer Stevens from River City and Louise McCarthy from Only an Excuse team up for their alter egos, The Dolls while Robert Florence and Iain Connell from BBC’s Burnistoun unveil their new creation, Uncles.
