One of Kirkcaldy’s first Warm Spaces will host a fundraiser in November - as it seeks to extend the services it can offer.

The KVC began opening its doors to those in need in October. Now, after visits have more than doubled, organisers are looking to increase the services they can offer. Before they can do that however, they say they must raise vital funds.

The Hub will host its first fundraiser on Saturday, November 19 at their Mercat Shopping Centre premises between 10am and 2pm, with funds being raised via tombolas, raffles and sales.

Natalie Hall runs the Warm Space and she says the response from the public - and their Mercat neighbours - has been incredible.

She said: “It's been amazing, the numbers have at least doubled, with some regular faces and some new. We've now put sofas in the Hub which has given the place a much warmer feel.

“It's just been such a fantastic experience thus far - and the support from local stores has blown me away”.

Feedback from those using the space means that they will now look to increase the number of days that the Hub is open. In addition, they are also looking to make more services available, such as on-site qualified counsellors.

With a year long tenancy, the goal for the space is that it becomes an ongoing provision for the community. There is hope that they will also be able to build links with other organisations which have moved into the shopping centre in recent months.

The space operates on Fridays between 10am and 2pm in the Mercat.
