New mosaic unveiled for coastal rowing club

A colourful new mosaic sign depicting Kinghorn Coastal Rowing Club's logo was unveiled at the weekend.

The panel, situated on Fife Coastal Path at Quarrel Brae in Kinghorn forms part of Fife Coast and Countryside Trust’s information board, next to land which the club is currently negotiating with Fife Council as its new home.

The logo was designed by primary school pupil Bobby Macniven in a competition run by local artist Ritchie Feeney and made into a mosaic by Jo Hobbett from the Ecology Centre, along with members of the rowing club and centre volunteers.

It also features tiles representing Kinghorn in Bloom, the RNLI lifeboat, the Coastguard, Kinghorn Sailing Club and Kinghorn Harbour Residents’ Environmental Group. The Quarrel Brae area has recently been landscaped by Kinghorn in Bloom, with a ship’s anchor centepiece.

“This mosaic will hopefully be passed by thousands of people on the Fife Coastal Path and seen by people attending regattas in the future,” said Christine Feechan, club secretary.
