Fife nostalgia: Station poem unveiled 1994

It's something that many of us will have read, probably more than once over the years.

The Mary Campbell Smith poem that adorns the wall on the upper level of the south-going side of Kirkcaldy Railway station was unveiled in this month in 1994.

The event marked the conclusion of a station sprucing up, courtesy of Kirkcaldy floor covering giants Forbo-Nairn, who had supplied and fitted specially designed lino to the station’s booking office and waiting room and also produced the commemorative plaque in the shape of the well known poem ‘The Boy In The Train’, whose destination is Kirkcaldy, read by many thousands of commuters since.
