In Pictures: Adverts for Kirkcaldy businesses no longer around
The changing face of Kirkcaldy's High Street is reflected in these adverts from the archives.
The year was 1950, and they all came from a booklet ‘The Journal Of The Kirkcaldy Public Library, Art Gallery And Museum’.
The businesses will be familiar to a generation of Lang Toun folk who shoppped at Thomas Christie, meat purveyors, bought books from Burt’s and called McBain’s when they needed a taxi.
The adverts include some very well known names, but none of the businesses remain at the addresses shown in the copy – a sign of the changing times for our town centre.
