Looking Back - St Andrews Royal Observer Corps

The setting may have been cold and frosty but it is unlikely the feelings would have been on the occasion of a reunion of the local Royal Observer Corps (ROC).

The ROC was a civil defence organisation operated by civilian spare-time volunteers who, during WWII, watched the skies and the coastline.

This reunion of local men is believed to have been in the 1960s and among those enjoying a cuppa and a sandwich the cold were A Carstairs, W Braid and J MacArthur.

Scotland’s Secret Bunker, near Crail, was base for Dundee ROC.
