Fifers narrate new digital trail around region's mining communities
A new digital trail covering Fife’s mining communities has been launched.
Audio guides narrated by local people bring the landscape, and the region’s industrial heritage, to life.
The trail has been created by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT).
The five bespoke audio guides encompass Kincardine, Culross, Valleyfield, Newmills, Oakley and Blairhall, as well as spots around Lochore Meadows, Kelty and Blairadam.
Nicky Wilson, who chairs CRT in Scotland, said: “During the pandemic, we’ve seen more and more people going out on walks and exploring their local areas.
“The trails not only guide people along attractive routes, but also provide the listener with a whole host of information they’ve perhaps never heard of before, all from a local expert.
“Culture and community play an important role for the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and we hope the launch of our new audio guides can be enjoyed by people of all ages who are keen to learn a little bit more about the area they live in.”
