The group run by Greener Kirkcaldy is looking for children’s bikes it can refurbish and sell over the festive period - but the team will also accept donations of any bicycles.

David Glover, cycle workshop and retail coordinator at Lang Toun Cycles, said the scheme gives youngsters the opportunity to create memories of riding bikes, whilst also giving old bikes a new lease of life.

He said: “Most of us have memories of riding a favourite bike as a child. Donating them when they are no longer needed means that even more kids can have those same experiences.

Mr. Glover added: “We’re very happy to take donations at the shop during opening hours. If people have a few bikes they want to hand on, we may be able to arrange a collection.”

Bikes donated to Lang Toun Cycles are refurbished by trained mechanics and resold at affordable prices.

That also helps to reduce waste by saving them from going into landfill, and access to affordable bikes at bits Kirkcaldy High Street base helps more local people get into cycling.

The town centre base also offers cycle servicing and repairs, sales of refurbished bikes, new accessories and e-bikes, an electric bike library scheme, maintenance training and volunteering opportunities.
