Picture this: host of awards for Fife photographer Caroline

Reaching the finals of the world’s leading food photography awards, Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2016, Caroline’s picture of St Andrews fisherman Jim Buttercase was exhibited in the Mall Galleries, London alongside the other finalists.

Shortlisted from over 7000 submitted photographs from across the world, the image, taken from an exhibition of 20 black and white images that Caroline shot of Fife fishermen last year, highlights the plight of the local fishing situation.

Jim’s hat slogan ‘Tee’d off’ highlights the frustration they feel at not being able to land wet fish at the harbour.

Her second image, The Weight of Apples’ was a finalist in the Pink Lady ‘apple a day’ category.

The finalists were chosen by a panel of judges including Antonio Carluccio, David Loftus, Jamie Oliver’s photographer and Michel Roux Jr.

A member of the Master Photographers Association (MPA) Caroline also entered their annual Scottish Awards ceremony which was recently held in Dunkeld and picked up six awards.

Her accolades consisted of four merits for food photography, family portraits and weddings and two awards of excellence for pet portraits.

Caroline, who is originally from Yorkshire, started taking photographs 30 years ago to help promote her online business and it has since become both her passion and her full time employment, winning her first award in 1994.
