WORRIES over road safety have led to a Windygates housing proposal being thrown out.
Developers had hoped to build seven homes just off Fa-Latch Road in Balcurvie, plus make alterations to an existing cottage, but have been left disappointed due to councillor concerns over the safety for motorists getting on to the near-by Kennoway Road.
A similar application was thrown out in 2006 due to sections of the road being sub-standard.
Following a site meeting in August, councillors of the Levenmouth area committee met on Wednesday to discuss the application.
Councillor Andrew Rodger said: “In the past this has been turned down because of transportation issues and I’m not convinced they’ve been addressed.
“That morning I was up for the site visit I was almost hit – it’s a busy junction there at that time.
“I won’t be able to put my head on my pillow and sleep if I don’t refuse this.”
Councillor Jim Young added he felt the road wasn’t suitable to accommodate any further traffic.
He said: “It’s really narrow going along there.
“I’ve got great concerns about it.”
Councillors agreed to refuse the application.
