Ready to rev up for bikes in the park ... and on the beach

Motorbike enthusiasts from Kirkcaldy and further afield are being urged to mark two important dates in their calendars for the coming year.

Dates have been set for the nostalgic ‘Bikes in the Park’ and Sand Races events, and organisers Kirkcaldy and District Motor Club, are hoping for a great turnout from the local biking fraternity for both.

The Sand Races, which take place on the beach and Esplanade area are scheduled for Saturday, April 9 and include races for different categories of bikes as well as featuring trade stands, skills demonstrations, mini motos and a trail bike course.

This year organisers hope to have a team event, with six-rider teams competing for a trophy as well as the individual rider races.

And the Bikes in the Park event showcasing bikes past and present will take place on Sunday, May 8, with an evening get together with a guest speaker in the Kirkcaldy Rugby Club the night before.

The event features an exhibition of vintage, modern, classic and custom bikes, road race, trials and motocross and speedway competition bikes all contesting the many classes with the chance to win prestigious trophies.

There will also be children’s entertainment and food and drink all within the confines of Scotland’s very first motorcycle road race circuit.

Entry details for both events are available from: [email protected] and entry is free but donations will be taken on the day to cover costs.
