The donation was used to convert a downstairs bathroom into a fully accessible wet room as well as a complete upgrade of the family bathroom upstairs.

Following an ambitious £500,000 fundraising campaign by members of the lodge’s sister charity, TCCL, to buy a house and convert it into a holiday home for local families affected by childhood cancer, the house in Horseleys Park was purchased and completely renovated.

Dr Rosalie Wilkie said: “This was a very significant donation which enabled us to completely change the bathrooms. The money made a huge difference to our renovation project and we are very grateful. Many visitors to the lodge have remarked on the bathrooms, especially the wet room which really has the ‘wow’ factor.”
