Here at the Mail, we’ve been busy digging out photographs and articles on both schools from the last six decades.

And now we want to see your pictures and hear your memories of your time at Levenmouth’s two high schools.

Nearly 60 years of history will come to an end on July 1 with the end of the school term. Come August, Levenmouth’s youngsters will no longer put on different uniforms and get on different school buses; education in the area is coming together.

Levenmouth Academy will open to pupils for the start of the new 2016-17 term on Wednesday, August 17, and there will be a wash of brand new blazers and purple ties on show.

The school, which will have capacity for up to 1800 pupils, will be one of the largest in Scotland, and will herald the beginning of a whole new host of memories for the youngsters of today and the future.

But before that kicks off, we want to help celebrate the legacy of Kirkland and Buckhaven, and we need your help to do it!

Digging through our archives, we’ve already come across dozens of pictures showing life at the schools, from fundraising efforts, to class time, school trips andconcerts, to annual awards ceremonies.

The flares of the 70s are there, alongwith the perms and mullets of the 80s and the tracksuits of the 90s.

We’ll be posting the images on our Facebook page over the next two weeks to help identify those shown, but we want to hear from you.

Do you have pictures from your time at school - perhaps you got the camera out at a school disco or on a school outing?

Maybe you still have your yearbook, or class picture showing everyone resplendent in their new uniforms?

We want to capture as many memories as possible for a special edition of the East Fife Mail later this summer, so we’re looking for lots of photographs.

And along side that, we want to know what the schools mean to you.

For many of us, the time we spend at school is one of the best of our lives. Maybe you met your partner there, or you still have all the same best friends?

There were some legendary teachers too - who do you remember the most?
