. Brave the chain walk
The Elie Chain Walk is not for the faint-hearted - follow a series of chains bolted to the rocks between Earlsferry Beach and Shell Bay for a coastal scramble to remember. Make sure you only attempt it while the tide is going out, or risk being one of the many people who need to be rescued by the coastguard each year. Photo: Canva/Getty Images

5. Descend into a secret bunker
An innocent looking farmhouse to the west of Crail leads to a two-level bunker where Scotland's top brass would have fled in the event of a Cold War nuclear attack. Today, it's a museum and you can explore the two cinemas, nuclear operations room, RAF control centre and dormitories. Photo: Google Maps

6. Take in the view from Scotland's most extravagant changing room
Lady's Tower, on the Fife Coastal Path east of Elie Lady's Tower was built in 1770 for Lady Janet Anstruther, the daughter of a wealthy Scottish merchant, to enjoy the view after taking a dip in the sea - with a cave directly below used as a changing room. It's now one of the most photographed spots in Fife. Photo: Canva/Getty Images

7. Enjoy a Michelin-starred meal
It may be small, but the East Neuk boasts two of Scotland's 11 Michelin-starred restaurants. Choose from the Peat Inn, in the village of the same name, or the Cellar in Anstruther - just be sure to book in advance. Photo: Canva/Getty Images

8. Enjoy a game of beach cricket
The Ship Inn, in Elie, not only has one of the best beer gardens in Scotland - it also has its own beach cricket team who take on opposition from all over Britain throughout the summer. Check out the fixtures on the pub's Facebook page, then enjoy watching the runs clock up with a drink in hand. Photo: Canva/Getty Images
