Travel restrictions have now been lifted, meaning that those living in Fife can now leave their council area for non-essential purposes for the first time since Christmas.
Museums, galleries and many other attractions will then reopen on Monday, April 26, so we thought we’d look at some of the quirky, interesting and unusual things you can do and see, all within an hour’s drive of the centre of Kirkcaldy.

The Isle of May, off the Fife coast, is one of the best places in Britain to see adorable puffins. Book a trip from Anstruther on the May Princess, which sails from April to September, and enjoy spending time on the island in the company of up to 90,000 puffins, along with thousands of guillemots, razerbills and shags. Located around 40 minutes from Kirkcaldy, in the grounds of Bonnington House, Jupiter Artland is a sculpture park and art gallery set in 120 acres of meadow and woodland.
