Students from Fife College graphic design department have come forward to offer their services to design the album sleeve and artwork for her charity album.

Musicians from as far afield as Australia have been working non-stop since January to get it ready as soon as possible.

And, despite ongoing gruelling sessions of chemotherapy, Jackie has managed a meeting with the students to discuss ideas for creating the perfect sleeve.

“It was quite daunting having to explain to so many young enthusiastic students the importance behind the CD,” she said.

The music department at the college opened its doors to Jackie to allow her to film a documentary about making the CD and also to record the highs and lows she has faced on her journey with cancer.

Despite the sadness and impact of her treatment, Jackie remains upbeat and is delighted that the college has been involved in the project – and she hopes the experience will add to the students’ own portfolios.

“This will be my last studio recording,” she admitted.

“But I think the students are all excited to come up and be part of something quite special.”

Jackie, who was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer in 2013, is taking life one day at a time.

Her music career was abruptly put on hold following her diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

At the start of 2016 a campaign was set up for her to raise funds to fulfil one of her wishes, which was to record a final album with husband Steve Thiebault as a legacy to their love.

Since January she has recorded all the vocals for the each carefully selected 15 tracks.

The proceeds from the CD will be going to Maggie’s Fife. Jackie’s biggest wish now, is that she will be well enough to enjoy a launch party this summer.

Jackie admitted that it would be fabulous to be in the hospital grounds at a party, rather than as a patient!

Maggie’s is behind the project and is helping in whatever way it can.

“Giving the proceeds of the charity album to Maggie’s Fife is important to me as the centre has been so good to me and Steve in the six years since I was diagnosed,” explained Jackie.

“I see first hand what a special place it is and I believe it is not only special to me but to a lot of Fifers.”

The star has spent her career dedicated to country music and was honoured with the British Country Music Hall of Fame in October 2015.
