The pair hope the music event at the town’s Windsor Hotel will help to raise as much money as possible for Coastal Jaguar Conservation based in the Central American country.

The fundraiser is being organised as part of Gavin’s college course work.

Shaun explained: “Myself and Gavin met through our passions of skateboarding, photography and music and have had a good friendship since.

“Gavin, who is from France, is studying event management at Adam Smith College.

“He thought it would be cool to do a fundraising event for something different and then I mentioned a friend, Ian Thomson, who does some awesome work in Costa Rica.

“We thought it would be a nice gesture to give them some money that we hope to raise from the night.”

Coastal Jaguar Conservation is working to monitor the populations of jaguars and their prey species in Costa Rica.

Since the 1950s the population of jaguars within the Americas has plummeted to an estimated 15,000 according to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The big cat’s numbers are dropping largely due to a loss of habitat and the species is now classed as ‘near threatened’ on the endangered risk scale.

Tomorrow’s music event will see DJs including Matty Lech, Peschin Gavaud, Pippin Drainwood, Cammy MacPhail (Altitude) and The Penetrator playing a night of disco, house and techno.

Shaun added: “It will be a fun night of Electro Disco music with fun games, facepainters and raffles etc. and encourage anyone who wants to have a good night to come along.”

Entry to the event, which is open to over 18s only, costs £5 on the door with all proceeds going to Coastal Jaguar Conservation.

‘Los Jaguar de la Noche’ at the Windsor Hotel in Victoria Road starts at 8.30pm tomorrow evening (Friday).
