Successful return for Methilhill Gala

Hundreds of locals turned out in support of the revived Methilhill Children and Community Gala which was held on Saturday.

Organising committee Sarah Baker, Claire Aitken, Fay McDonald, Donna Guthrie, Suzanne White and Melissa Durie were overwhelmed by the support shown after many told them it couldn’t be done.

“We’re so proud of ourselves,” said Sarah. “And so proud of all the parents and the whole community who came out on Saturday.

“All of the hard work has definitely been worth it.”

The parade, featuring lad and lass Cody Jamieson and Kacey-Lee Sadler with their attendants James Little, Liam Daly, Holly Jamieson and Ami Pearson, marched proudly up Ash Grove to Methihill Primary. Music was provided by Leven and District Pipe Band and Fife Provost Jim Leishman was there to lead proceedings.

Jamie the Jester was there to entertain the crowds, who had the chance to try out the bouncy castle and slide, beat the goalie, hook a duck and more. There were lots of stalls to peruse on the day, with special thanks to Annie Cramb for helping with the bake sale.

Thanks also go to all of the parents, school, performers on the day and Caledonian Kilts for providing the outfits free of charge.

The date is already set for next year after enough funds were raised on the day, so pop it in your diaries - June 3, 2017!
