The Mail understands some operational problems had thrown the opening into doubt earlier today, but it has just been confirmed within the last hour or so that the new North Street premises would be open at 10pm.

A £500,000 refit of the building – which previously housed the Troxy Cinema and the Ambassadeur Snooker Club – began around three months ago. The club now has official capacity for just over 500 people, with around 20 jobs being created initially.

Owner Lee Murray bought the premises two years ago and had at first considered making them into a business hub, before deciding on a nightclub to hopefully enhance the town.

The interior has been summed up as “looking incredible”, while its appearance was described as “industrial” and similar to Base, the nearby restaurant, with traces of art deco in keeping with the original building.
