18 year-old pedestrian struck by car

Police in Fife have appealed for witnesses after an 18 year-old was struck by a car in Markinch.

On Saturday, 18 February police say a vehicle and pedestrian collided on Balbirnie Street, Markinch at 8.10pm.

The accident occurred near John Dixon Park and involved the 18 year-old local pedestrian and a blue Nissan Navara. The 18 year old pedestrian was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy with head injuries where his condition is described as serious but stable. The male driver of the Nissan Navara was uninjured.

The roadway at the scene was closed for a short time to allow initital investigations but is now reopened.

Fife Constabulary are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, or saw the pedestrian or the vehicle shortly before, to contact 0845 600 5702.
